If you will be living in the campus residence halls, you will need “single” (or “twin”) sized sheets for the bed. Don’t forget a bath towel and other living essentials as well. It is likely that you will need a converter for your electronics. Electrical outlets in the U.S. generally look like the one in the photo. During orientation, we will provide shuttles to stores so that you can buy items that you need, such as sheets, pillow, towels, etc.

Don’t forget to bring some clothing, items, photos, or snacks from your home country to share your culture with your friends and help yourself in times of homesickness. These items could also be useful for events like International Nights, the Global Ambassadors Program, Host Family Program, and other International Student Association events and programs.

Lastly, keep in mind that you may leave Hilo with more than you came with! In addition to long-lasting memories and friendships, you may take some physical reminders of your experience at UH Hilo with some souvenirs.
