Wireless internet is available for free in the residence halls on campus. There are also computer labs on campus where you can use computers and print (printing incurs a small fee per page).
Each room includes a bed and a desk. You will need to bring sheets and pillow, or you can buy them when you get to Hilo. There are laundry facilities on campus where you can wash and dry your clothes, towels and sheets. There is a small fee to use the laundry machines. Ask your RA how to use the laundry machines if you are not familiar with them.
Electrical sockets (outlets) in the United States are the “Type B” North American NEMA 5-15 standard. You might need a travel plug adapter in order to use things that you plug in to an electrical outlet. The voltage in the U.S. is 110-120 Volts.
More detailed information and suggestions about what to bring with you are included in the “Travel and Transportation” section of this online orientation.
