The UH Hilo campus is located in the heart of Hilo on the east side of the island of Hawai’i. The island itself is usually referred to as “the Big Island.” As you might have guessed, the Big Island is the largest in size in the Hawaiian island chain.
About 3,000 students attend UH Hilo. Class sizes are generally small, and you will be able to get to know your classmates and professors well. UH Hilo offers “hands-on” learning, service, and leadership opportunities for our students to connect the classroom lectures with reality based situations. This applied learning also creates opportunities for close student and faculty interaction. We have a richly diverse student population, with a unique blend of local, U.S. mainland and international students, all living and learning together. In fact, UH Hilo is one of the most diverse four-year public universities in the United States.
