Other Important Regulations

In addition to “the 3 E’s,” there are some other important regulations that you need to know.

Travel

You can travel outside the United States while you are a student in the U.S. Before you leave the U.S., however, you will need to get the Director of International Student Services to sign your I-20 Form. You will experience difficulty getting back in to the U.S. if the Director has not signed your I-20 Form. You can travel anywhere inside the United States while you are a student, and you do not need to get the Director’s signature on your I-20 Form (or DS-2019 Form for students on J-1 visas).

Address

You are required to inform the Director of International Student Services at UH Hilo of your address in Hilo. If your address changes while you are in the U.S., you must inform the Director within 10 days of your change of address.

Passport

You must keep your passport valid for at least 6 months into the future.
