Time: Americans are very time conscious of time. They place a high value on promptness. Classes, meetings, and busses generally start on time. If you are going to be more than five or 10 minutes late for a meeting or an appointment, you should call or text to let the other person know you will be late. People in Hawai’i tend to be less concerned about time compared to on the U.S. mainland, though, so it’s not unusual for things to start later than planned or advertised (except for classes and meetings with professors). This is sometimes referred to as “Hawaiian time.”
